Broadway Walk of Stars & New Day Interactive Honor Stars of Screen & Stage in New York
Arlene Dahl, an M-G-M star who was one of the first actresses
to make her mark on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1952,
is now committed to ensuring that Broadway gets its own
version of Hollywood's celebrated sidewalk. As president
and founder of The Broadway Walk of Stars Foundation, Inc.,
Dahl wants to see New York City's own theater and show business
luminaries on the Broadway pavement. These stars will memorialize
the legendary names of the Theater, Motion Pictures, Television,
Music, and Dance for generations to come.
The foundation also plans to give out 5 scholarships annually to
children in NYC public schools who show talent in the 5 disciplines
mentioned above.
The Broadway Walk of Stars' Phase 1 will begin at Duffy Square (the
TKTS triangle in Times Square area). Specially designed
stars, designed by Jason Pivovitsch of New Day Interactive, LLC., will honor New
York's most famous stars and legends in the worlds of theater, dance,
music, film, and TV. Each star will be placed on sidewalks along
Broadway in the theater district – then branching out from there.
The organization is currently working on agressive fundraising to bring this
project to fruition, and has secured the support of the City of New York. A website
and other donation opportunities will be forthcoming later this year.
